SBI has a dedicated portal, SBI Card, serving the credit card market since 1998. With a credit card customer base of more than 5 million, SBI offers various types of credit cards designed for different purposes like travel, shopping, lifestyle and so on.
Applying for an SBI credit card is easy through SBI Card website. The same website will allow you to know the status of your credit card application.
There are two ways you can get the status - one is with the application number and the other without. Hence, those who don’t have the application number handy can also get the status of their card with the other option available.
Follow the Below Steps to Check the Status of your SBI Credit Card Application Online
You will receive the status as soon as you hit the buttons. It could be either in progress, on-hold, approved, dispatched or disapproved.
A status which says in progress means your application is still under progress and the bank may need some more time to process it.
An approved status says, your credit card application has been approved and you will receive the card soon.
Once your application is approved your card will be dispatched. In that case you will receive dispatched as your status. You will receive a SMS mentioning the expected time of delivery. Make yourself available at the address as it will be handed over only to the applicant. You will be asked for any one of your original identification proofs to further validate your identity at the time of delivery.
Apart from the positive response your might also receive something like on-hold and disapproved. The on-hold status says your application has been kept on hold due to some reasons like failed document verification, need more documents to finish the process and the like. You are likely to receive a message or call from the bank.
Your application might be disapproved when you don’t meet the eligibility criteria set by the bank. If your application status is disapproved, you can call SBI customer care to know the reasons.
Once disapproved, you’re only eligible to re-apply only after three months as per SBI norms. However, in few exceptional situations you may not be able to apply for longer.
When you cannot access internet, you can simply call the SBI helpline numbers to know the status.
SBI provides two helpline numbers to know about the status of credit card application status, 1860-180-1290 and 39020202. For the second number, you have to prefix your local STD code to get your card details. For instance, if you applied your card in Bengaluru, you need to dial 080-39020202.
You can also write to SBI to get the same. But it may take time to get you the details.

Once you click on it, you need to enter your application number, mobile number, and date of birth PAN number (only for mobile app users) to check the status.

If the records are updated, you will receive your application reference number. Enter the same in the ‘Track Application’ column and click on ‘Track’ to check the status.
Once you submit credit card application to SBI, the card will be delivered within 21 working days. The bank will send you timely alerts with the status of your application to your registered mobile number. If you don’t receive the card within the stipulated time, you can write to SBI Card using the link www.sbicard.com/en/webform/write-to-us-login.page or call SBI credit card customer care at 1800 180 1290.
There could be various reasons for the bank to reject a credit card application. Some of them include poor or low credit score, low income for the card type, no credit history, wrong choice of credit card type, failed background verification, so on and so forth. Once you know the reason, try to fix it and re-apply after 3 months.
