The Ombudsman scheme was introduced with the aim of enabling a resolution of all complaints from the customers related to services that are offered by the banks. This also facilitates satisfaction and settlement of all complaints of customers.
Ombudsmen are known to be impartial and independent, and they offer free service. They also investigate complaints that have not been solved by the banks.
You can easily get in touch with the Banking Ombudsman if you have not received any ‘final response’ within 30 days. The Banking Ombudsman Scheme is inexpensive and is a forum for customers to get a resolution for their complaints. The Banking Ombudsman Scheme was introduced under Section 35 A of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949, by RBI.
20 Banking Ombudsmen have now been appointed with offices in state capitals. The addresses and also contact details of the Banking Ombudsman offices are under Annex I of the Scheme. You can file a complaint before the Banking Ombudsman if there is no reply from the bank within a certain period of time.
