The surcharge amount that is levied varies depending on whether tickets are booked through the IRCTC website or directly at the railway counters. If tickets are booked at the railway counters, then the surcharge amount applicable is Rs. 30 along with 2.5% of transaction amount. In case, tickets are booked on the IRCTC website, then it is 1.8% of the transaction amount in addition to the service charge that is applicable.
