Following the complaints received against vendors for overcharging food in trains, the IRCTC has introduced billing through Point of Sale (POS) machines.

About 2,200 machines have been arranged in the trains with pantry cars so far. In the next phase, 100 devices would be provided on 26 trains.
The ministry opined that the introduction of credit card and debit card payments would be an ideal solution for the problem of overcharging, and would also make buying food easier for the passengers.
