SBI Credit Cards Joining Fee:

 When you apply for an SBI credit card, the bank charges a joining fee. This is a one-time fee charged by the SBI bank at the time of card issuance, ranging from Rs.0 up to Rs.9,999. Do note that the amount of fees charged by the bank depends on the card variant and is communicated to the cardholder at the time of application.

SBI Credit Cards Renewal Fee:

Once you complete a year using SBI credit card, the bank charges a renewal fee. You may get a waiver on the SBI credit card’s renewal fee, depending on the card variant and the spend-based milestone associated with it. Do note that the amount of renewal fee varies depending on the card variant.

SBI Credit Cards Interest Fee:

If you hold an SBI credit card, do note that the bank charges an interest if you fail to pay your credit card’s full outstanding amount before the due date. This type of charge is also known as a finance charge. It is also applicable on previous month’s balance payment, cash withdrawals, missed credit card payments, and carried forward balances. SBI charges an interest fee of 45% p.a. (3.75% per month) on its unsecured credit cards, and an interest fee of 33% p.a. (2.75% per month) on its secured, Shaurya, and defence, credit cards.

SBI Credit Cards Forex Charges:

The State Bank of India charges a foreign transaction fee, also known as a forex markup fee, every time you make a transaction using your credit card on foreign shores. The transaction is processed through an overseas account when you make a purchase in a foreign country. This fee is charged by the bank for converting the foreign currency into Indian rupees. SBI Bank charges a forex markup fee of up to 3.5% of the transaction amount.

SBI Credit Cards Late Payment Charges:

If you are an SBI credit cardholder, do note that the bank charges a late payment fee if you fail to pay even the ‘Minimum Amount Due’ on your credit card bill by the due date. This fee is applied by the bank as a fixed charge, depending on the amount of outstanding balance, and it is added to your next credit card statement. It is essential to be aware of these charges to avoid unnecessary expenses.

Note: The bank will charge an additional Rs.100 if you do not pay the ‘Minimum Amount Due’ by the due date for two consecutive billing cycles. This charge will continue to apply for every billing cycle, until the minimum amount is cleared.

SBI Credit Cards Overlimit Fee:

When you apply for an SBI credit card, the bank assigns a specific credit limit depending on the card variant and bank’s internal policies. The bank imposes an overlimit fee when you spend more than the assigned credit limit. This fee charged by the bank is generally calculated as a percentage of the exceeded amount and is added to your credit card bill.  SBI charges an overlimit of 2.5, subject to a minimum of Rs.600. It is advisable that you regularly monitor your credit card spending to avoid overlimit fee. 

SBI Credit Cards Card Replacement Fee:

If you are an SBI credit card holder and have lost your card, you can place a request for card replacement. However, the bank will charge a card replacement fee ranging between Rs.100 to Rs.250, depending on the card variant. In such cases, the bank may issue a new card with the same number, or you may get a new number, and the applicable replacement fee is added to your credit card statement. Do note that the card replacement fee for SBI AURUM credit card is Rs.1500.

    Yes, SBI bank does charge a card replacement fee ranging between Rs.100 to Rs.250, depending on the card variant. The card replacement fee for SBI Aurum credit card is Rs.1500. 

  • Do all SBI credit card variants have an annual fee and renewal fee?

    No, not all SBI credit cards have an annual fee and renewal. The bank offers a few entry-level credit cards at zero annual and renewal fees. 

  • Does SBI offer an interest-free grace period?

    Yes, SBI offers an interest free grace period of up to 50 days depending on the card variant and outstanding amount. 

  • Will I have to pay any late fee if I clear the ‘Minimum Amount Due’ instead of the full outstanding balance on my SBI credit card?

    No, you will not be charged a late fee if you pay the ‘Minimum Amount Due’ instead of the full outstanding balance on your credit card. A late fee is charged only if you fail to pay even the minimum due amount.
