Important Notes
Germany has announced a visa-free transit facility for Indian passport holders. This means that Indians will no longer need an airport transit (Schengen Category A) visa while changing international flights at German airports like Frankfurt or Munich, as long as they stay within the international transit area. This decision was announced when the German Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s first visit to India. Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed the move by saying that it would help in strengthening people-to-people ties between the two countries. However, the facility does not allow travellers to leave the airport or enter Germany, and Indians will still need a regular visa for tourism, business, or family visits to Germany or other Schengen countries.
