Types of Vietnam Tourist Visas

There are basically two kinds of visas you can apply for:

  • Single entry visa
  • Multiple entry visa

Single entry visas, as the name suggests, are meant for one entry and exit. So, once you use this visa to enter and exit Vietnam, you will have to apply for another visa if you wish to visit Vietnam again.

Multiple entry visas allow you to enter and exit Vietnam any number of times as long as your visa is valid. If you are applying for a multiple entry visa, make sure that you collect it at the airport so that you can enter and leave Vietnam via any port.

  • Step 1: Fill in the online application form. You will need to provide details such as your name, the name of the airport you will be arriving at, and the date of arrival. You will also have to include your passport number and your nationality.
  • Step 2: Once you are done filling out the form, you will be expected to pay a processing fee.   • Step 5: A copy of this letter will also be sent to the three airports from where you can get a visa on arrival.
  • Step 6: Print out the letter, take your passport (with 6 months' validity), and carry two passport-sized photos (4cm x 6 cm). With respect to your photos, ensure the following:
  • Step 7: Your photo should not be older than 6 months.
  • Step 8: Unless worn for medical reasons, tinted glasses cannot be worn.
  • Step 9: The photo should be taken against a white background.
  • Step 10: All of these documents need to be taken to the airport. The officials at the airport in Vietnam will go through it and request you to pay the following stamping fee:

How to Apply for Vietnam Visa at Vietnam Embassy

Documents Required for Vietnam Visa

You need the following documents to apply for a Vietnam Visa:

  1. Indian passport valid for a minimum of six months from the date of travel. The passport must have a minimum of two blank pages for visa stamp.
  2. Passport size photographs.

For visa on arrival, the additional documents required are as follows:

  1. Visa on arrival application form (M3 form)
  2. An approval letter allowing you to obtain a visa when you arrive at the Vietnam airport.
  3. A stamping fee has to be paid in cash for the visa on arrival. Note that you have to make this payment in Vietnamese Dong, the official currency of Vietnam.

Important Tips for Vietnam Visa on Arrival

When it comes to applying for a visa on arrival at Vietnam, keep the following in mind:

  • Since the Approval Letter application is filled online, you can use your Visa or Mastercard credit or debit card to make the payment.
  • For stamping fees, however, you will have to make the payment in USD or Vietnamese dong. No other form of payment is accepted.
  • Make sure you carry two passport size photographs in the required dimensions. If, however, the dimensions are incorrect r you fail to take your pictures with you, you can always have them taken at the airport for a minimal cost.
  • Before you head to the visa on arrival counter, make sure that you fill the Vietnam Entry & Exit form (M3).
  • Ensure that your passport is valid for at least 6 months from your arrival in Vietnam.
