Do Indians Need a Visa to Visit Bhutan?

Citizens of India do not require a visa to visit Bhutan. However, Indian travellers will need other documents to travel to the neighbouring country.

Documents Required to Visit Bhutan

You will have to carry the following documents while travelling to Bhutan. These documents can be asked for at various checkpoints which you will have to produce whenever asked for. The list of documents is given below:

  1. Valid voter ID Card issued by the Election Commission of India
  2. Valid Passport
  3. Entry Permit if travelling by road

Due to the Covid-19 outbreak, additional travel requirements have been put in place to control the spread of the virus. You will need produce a negative RTPCR test result obtained not more than 72 hrs prior to the date of your arrival in Bhutan

Conditions to Fulfil While Visiting Bhutan

While visiting Bhutan, you must fulfil certain quarantine-related conditions given below:

  1. If you are fully vaccinated, you must quarantine for 14 days. Other inbound travellers must quarantine for a period of 21 days. During this period, the Sustainable Development Fees (SDF) and the Minimum Daily Package Rates applicable must be paid as per the season.
  2. Have insurance coverage.
  3. Follow all the Covid-19 protocols strictly.
  4. Pay for all the Covid-19 tests as required.
  5. Complete the payment of the minimum daily package rate for the entire travel once the quarantine is over.
  6. Keep yourself updated with all the travel restrictions put in place due to Covid-19.
  7. Carry the entry permit if travelling by road.
