Consequences of Overstaying an Indian E-Visa

Visitors must be aware of their visa conditions to avoid fines, legal issues, or deportation. Overstaying an Indian Tourist e-Visa can have serious repercussions, including:

  1. Fines: Overstaying on your Indian visa in the US causes financial penalties. For overstays under 90 days, the fee is US$ 300; for overstays of more than two years, the fine is US$ 500. These can quickly accumulate, becoming a significant financial burden.
  1. Detention and Deportation: Immigration authorities may detain and deport those who overstay. Deportation arrangements can be stressful, and the process often includes a ban on re-entry to India for a defined period.
  1. Legal Action: Overstays exceeding two years may result in criminal charges and imprisonment. Even shorter overstays can lead to fines, legal proceedings, and complications with future travel or immigration processes.
  1. Future Travel Impact: A record of overstaying can affect international travel. Non-compliance with visa rules may result in denied entry to other countries and difficulties in obtaining future visas, along with added costs and delays.

To avoid these issues, always comply with Indian immigration rules and ensure your stay aligns with your visa’s validity.
