Come Tuesday, FreeCharge announced its plans to launch into the wallet segment. Freecharge is a mobile transactions platform, backed by Snapdeal, which will be joining forces with Yes Bank and payment bank licensee, Fino PayTech, to launch this wallet service in a few weeks from now. So, how will this mobile wallet be any different from the ones currently available online? For starters, this wallet service claims to slash the checkout time to under 10 seconds, allowing users to make payments much faster than before. Said to be equipped with cutting edge technology and a strong partner network, this service is all set to add value to the existing methods of online transacting.
FreeCharge currently has a credit-based wallet service integrated in its app known as FreeCharge Credits. An instance where a transaction is unsuccessful, the money gets transferred to the customer’s FreeCharge Credits and can be used for another transaction later. However, following this association with a payment bank licensee ( Fino PayTech), the company plans to link the wallet service to a savings bank account with the help of NEFT or IMPS fund transfers and also plans to issue debit / ATM cards.
