He focused on the importance of devotion to God instead of rituals and ascetic practices. He regarded devotion (Bhakti) and the grace of God as the supreme path to attaining liberation.

He established the Pushtimarg sect after his encounter with Shrinathji, whom   he believed to be the direct manifestation of Lord Krishna. The followers of the sect seek the ultimate union with the divine and to express a deep sense of love towards Lord Krishna.

Vallabhacharya breathed his last in 1531 CE in Varanasi, and his fabulous life and teachings are commemorated through his Jayanti across the country.
