Born to Ramdas and Mata Bhani in April 1563, Guru Arjun Dev Ji was the fifth Sikh Guru when he was 18 years old. He is known for his many contributions to his community. Guru Arjun Dev Ji initiated the establishment of the Golden Temple and compiled the Guru Granth Sahib. He was an outstanding artist and a staunch advocate of equality. In 1606, he was executed by the Mughal king, Jahangir, making him the first martyr of the Sikh community.
