  1. Bristish army faced heavy resistance which led to the Anglo-Manipuri war of 1891 
  2. Manipuris lacked weapons in comparison to the Bristish army, yet they gave heavy resistance to the British army 
  3. After winning the battle, British sentenced death to those who rebelled and tried to defend their land 
  4. At Bir Tikendrajit Park, Thangal General, Paona Brajabasi, and Yuvaraj Bir Tikendrajit were hanged on 13 August 1991 
  5. The day is observed in remembrance of brave patriots who died fighting for their land against British.
