World Braille Day is celebrated to honor the birth of Louis Braille on 4 January 1809.  Louis Braille invented the “Braille System” after he became blind in a childhood accident. At the age of just 15 years old, he invented a writing and reading system based on Charles Barbier’s night writing system.
