About World Aids Day

world aids day

Today, medical sciences have made lot of improvement in HIV treatment and there are certain laws to help people who are living with HIV. Despite this, each year more than 4,300 cases are diagnosed with HIV. World AIDS Day is significant because it serves as a reminder to the public and the government that HIV is still a serious problem that requires urgent funding, more awareness, and improved educational opportunities.

On this World AIDS Day, UNAIDS is emphasising the urgent need to eradicate the injustices that fuel the global pandemics of AIDS and other diseases.

HIV continues to pose a threat to the world forty years after the first AIDS cases were recorded. Today, structural disparities that block tried-and-true approaches to HIV prevention and treatment are the main reason why the world is not on track to fulfil its shared goal to eradicate AIDS by 2030. This is not because there is a shortage of information or means to combat AIDS.

If we want to eradicate AIDS by 2030, we urgently need to address economic, social, cultural, and legal inequities.

Although there is a belief that addressing the underlying social inequities should not be prioritised during a crisis, it is evident that this cannot be done if the crisis is to be resolved.
