  • LPG cylinder March delivery in Tamil Nadu increases by 15%

The residents of Tamil Nadu had received a total delivery of around 117 lakh LPG refills. This was done as they had been preparing for the three-week lockdown. This figure is now the highest ever deliveries by any state-owned oil marketing company in one month.

Indane, which is the LPG brand of Indian Oil, had delivered around 68 lakh cylinders. Indane usually delivers around 4 lakh refills in one day (60 lakh in one month). Bharat Gas and HO Gas had delivered around 49 lakh units in March (cumulatively), as against its usual 45 lakh units.

The LPG refills had been delivered on Sundays as well and had operated all the bottling units over the weekends. While the LPG demand had risen by 15% in March, the sales of fuels had fallen. The first few estimates by the oil companies had shown that the sale of petrol had dipped 6% and diesel had fallen 75%.

With this lockdown now in effect, the movement of private vehicles has come to a stop and only 30% of the trucks are now ferrying goods, after a stoppage for around three days.
