LPG Price Relief: New Cylinder Prices to Take Effect on 1 December
As part of the monthly controlled price review, LPG commercial cylinder rates were reduced by Rs 10 as of December 1. The reduction does not apply to home LPG rates; only commercial LPG cylinders are eligible. Commercial cylinder prices were also slashed by Rs 5 last month. Commercial establishments such as hotels and restaurants will see a little decrease in input costs because of the most recent change. LPG prices in India are calculated using an "Import Parity Price" (IPP) model that takes several factors into account. Because the IPP is calculated in US dollars and then converted to rupees, the foreign exchange rate also influences the final price. Starting 1 July, the LPG prices of the 19-kg commercial cylinders have been reduced. The oil marketing companies have lowered the rates by Rs.58.50. The price of one 19-kg commercial cylinder in New Delhi now stands at Rs.1,665. However, the prices of domestic LPG cylinders have not been reduced.
