Compressed Natural Gas, popularly known as CNG is increasingly used in India after diesel and petrol. CNG is used in those automobiles which are manufactured in a different way than those automobiles which consume traditional fuels. CNG is also called green fuel as it is Sulphur and lead-free. Not only this but it also lessens harmful emissions. As there is the absence of Sulphur and lead content in CNG, the risk of causing pollution is also eliminated.
Apart from this, the operational cost of the automobiles which consume CNG are low as compared to those which consume fuels like petrol and diesel. In addition, the nature of CNG makes it one of the safest fuels as it is stored in high gauge seamless cylinders. So, the chances of leakage are also less. CNG is also lighter than air, thus in case of any leakage, the gas will rise up and disperse in the atmosphere.
