In Goa, residents are increasingly adopting CNG as a substitute for petrol, enabling them to contribute to environmental preservation while also enjoying financial savings. As of January 2025 , the price of CNG in Goa is Rs.91.00 per kg. 

Goa Natural Gas Private Limited 

Founded on January 13th, 2017, Goa Natural Gas Private Limited is a joint venture between GAIL GAS Limited (GGL) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL). 

Apart from providing PNG at both domestic and commercial level, the company also provides CNG to its customers.  

It is the only business that has been granted permission by India's Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) to develop the City Gas Distribution (CGD) Network in North Goa and Ponda, which covers a region of about 1675.81 sq. Km.

Do’s and Don’ts of CNG 

The do’s and don’ts of CNG are given below: 

Do’s 

  1. Use the brakes when refuelling 
  1. Make that the fuel filler cap is closed after refuelling with CNG or petrol. 
  2. Every three years from the date of the most recent testing or retesting of the cylinder by a government authorised CNG cylinder testing agency, the CNG cylinder has been checked. 
  3. While filling it with petrol, turn the engine off.

Don’ts 

  1. Don't change the CNG system's settings. 
  1. Never alter the CNG system's setup, settings, or components. 
  2. Under no circumstances should the CNG cylinder be repaired; instead, contact an authorised workshop with any issues. 
  3. Carry flammable items far away from the CNG cylinder. 
  4. Never substitute an LPG or other gas cylinder for a CNG cylinder. 
  5. Avoid stacking loads or bags on top of cylinders to prevent damage to the cylinder's pipe, hose, valve, etc. 
  1. Never fill your vehicle with petrol other than CNG. 
  2. The valves and other fittings on CNG cylinders shouldn't be lubricated with oil or any other type of lubricant. 
  3. The cylinder valve should never be taken out of the cylinder assembly. Once the cylinder valve has been replaced or detached from the cylinder assembly, do not use it. 
  4. Do not alter the CNG cylinder's colouring.
