FAQs

  • In Kalyan, how do I pay for CNG?

Cash, debit or credit cards, as well as electronic payment apps, are all acceptable forms of payment for CNG. The approved forms of payment are often advertised at CNG stations in Kalyan, which normally have dedicated payment systems.

  • Are CNG cars safe in the summer?

A CNG cylinder shouldn't have more than two-thirds of its total volume refilled during the course of the summer. This is due to the fact that during the summer, when temperatures surge to unusually high levels, a full fuel tank is hazardous.

  • Who is qualified to retrofit a CNG kit into a commercial vehicle?

In Mumbai, there are 6 ARAI and RTO approved workshops where CNG kits may be retrofitted into commercial vehicles. M/s Chunnilal, (Bhandup), M/s Mars Ignition, (Mira road), M's Lotus, (Powai), and Mr. Dhingra Turbhe (Navi-Mumbai) are among the companies with locations in Sewree, Mulund, M/s Shrimankar Auto Gas, and M/s Green Globe Fuel Solution. Please visit www.mahanagargas.com for further information.

  • Does there exists a financing option for commercial vehicles that want to refit CNG kits?

Yes. This facility of financing CNG kits for Commercial Vehicles is offered by some renowned auto refinancing organisations, like Cholamandlam and Shriram Finance. Write to mglecng@mahanagargas.com for a free CNG commercial vehicle demonstration or with any other questions.

  • Can a commercial vehicle with a diesel engine also have a CNG kit?

No. Because diesel engines have compression ignition and CNG engines require spark ignition (SI), dual fuel options are not available for diesel vehicles. However, commercial vehicles fueled by CNG have many CNG cylinders fitted, which allows for plenty of time to top off CNG before it runs out completely.

  • Is CNG the most environmentally friendly fuel available?

It is, indeed. CNG is a cleaner and more effective fuel since methane, the simplest hydrocarbon, makes up the majority of its composition. Carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, and Sulphur dioxide are dangerous exhaust gas pollutants that contribute to ailments including cancer and asthma. The usage of CNG considerably minimises these emissions. Global warming's negative consequences are also lessened by CNG.

  • Does CNG damage the engine in any way?

Due to the unique characteristics of CNG, it does not pollute or deplete crankcase oil, providing the engine with a new lease on life. Because CNG contains no lead, plug life is increased because lead fouling is prevented. Because CNG enters the engine as a gas, there is no carbon produced during CNG's combustion, which lowers the likelihood of wear and tear.

  • How much does it cost to convert a car to run on CNG?

The kind of car and the CNG kit will determine how much it will cost to convert it to CNG. At the moment, the cost of conversion is about between Rs.25,000 and Rs.50,000.
