Cooking Gas Relief: Government Introduces Easier LPG Reconnection Facility for PNG Customers
The Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Regulation of Supply and Distribution) Order has been updated by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas to allow homeowners with PNG connections to either cancel their LPG connection within 30 days or get a transfer voucher for future restoration in non-PNG areas. Such families are prohibited from obtaining LPG refills beginning on the day of PNG activation unless they choose one of these two choices. Due to acute supply difficulties brought on by the West Asia conflict and the Strait of Hormuz blockade, the March 2026 control order obliged PNG consumers to promptly surrender LPG to prevent stockpiling and guarantee that subsidized supplies reached areas without pipelines.
