PMUY and its Benefits 

The aim of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) is to provide clean cooking fuel to women and children so that they can remain healthy and protect themselves from wandering to unsafe places to collect wood, and smoky kitchens. 

On 1 May 2016, Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana at Ballia, Uttar Pradesh. The connections would be granted in the names of the women of the households, ensuring the empowerment of women, particularly in rural India.
