Know More About Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana 

The aim of Pradhan Mantri Ujjawala Yojana (PMUY) is to ensure that every household in India has an LPG cylinder. In 2019, around 8 crore connections were released, which increased the coverage from 62% in 2016 to 99.8% in 2021. 

Apart from that, additional 1.6 billion LPG connections will be provided under the PMUY Scheme with special consideration for immigrant households. 

Eligibility Criteria

Given below are the eligibility criteria required to be fulfilled to apply for PMUY:

1. The applicant must be at least 18 years old.
2. A mature woman who falls under one of the following groups:
   1. SC Families 
   2. ST Families
   3. Pradhan Awas Yojana Mantri (Gramin) 
   4.  Most Regressive Classes
   5. Antyodaya Yojana Anna (AAY)
   6. Ex-Tea Garden Tribes and Tea
   7. Living in the forest
   8. Individuals who live on Islands and River Islands
   9. SECC Households (AHL TIN)
   10. According to the 14-point declaration, poor families
3. No further LPG connections are permitted in the same home.

Documents required

Following documents will need to be submitted to apply for PMUY:

1. Ration Card 
2. KYC documents 
3. Aadhaar of the members of the family and the beneficiary. 
4. Address proof such as Aadhaar, utility bills, etc.

Benefits provided under PMUY

The Government of India offers financial support for PMUY connections in the amount of Rs.1600 (for a connection involving a 14.2 kg cylinder or Rs.1150 for a 5 kilogramme cylinder).  

The financial aid covers: 

1. Cylinder Security Deposit: Rs.1,250 for a 14.2 kilogramme cylinder and Rs.800 for a 5 kg cylinder

3. Rs.25 for a domestic gas consumer card 
4. Charges for Inspection, Installation, and Demonstration - Rs.75 
5. Additionally, the Oil Marketing Companies will offer all PMUY beneficiaries a free initial LPG refill and stove (hotplate), as well as a deposit-free connection. (OMCs).
