Coverage Offered Under SBI General Two-Wheeler Insurance Policy

Sbi Two Wheeler Insurance Coverage
  • Third-party liability arising due to an accident is covered under the policy. The policy also covers loss or damage to the vehicle.
  • Third Party Liability: The policy protects the policyholder against legal and financial liabilities resulting from any bodily injury or death of a third person, or damages caused to their property.
  • Damage or loss to the vehicle: The bike insurance policy offered by SBI General covers the insured against damage or loss caused to the vehicle due to any of the below-mentioned reasons:
    • Explosion, fire, self-ignition, damages caused by accident.
    • Damage caused to the vehicle in transit (road, rail, air, waterway or elevator).
    • Damages caused to the vehicle as a result of natural calamity such as earthquake, lightning, typhoon, flood, hurricane, inundation, cyclone, tempest, hailstorm, landslide, and rockslide.
    • Damage or loss caused to the vehicle due to theft, burglary, riot, malicious acts, strike, and terrorist activity.
  • The policy provides personal accident cover of Rs.1 lakh for owner of the vehicle/driver of the vehicle (holding a valid driving license).
  • The policy provides a cover of Rs.1 lakh for the pillion rider. The limit can be increased with a personal accident add-on cover.

Exclusions Under the SBI General Motorcycle Insurance Policy

The two-wheeler insurance policy does not cover the following instances involving your motorcycle or scooter:

  • Normal wear and tear of the vehicle due to passage of time
  • Depreciation in the value of the vehicle
  • Consequential loss or damage to the vehicle
  • Electrical or mechanical breakdown
  • Vehicle used against the limitations of use
  • Damage caused to the vehicle by a driver not holding a valid driving license
  • Damage caused to the vehicle by a person driving the motorcycle/scooter under the influence of alcohol or drugs
  • Damage or loss caused to the vehicle due to mutiny, war, or nuclear risk

Long Term Two Wheeler Insurance Policy

SBI General Insurance offers long-term two-wheeler insurance policy that can be availed for up to 3 years. The policy covers third-party liabilities as well as damage or loss to the vehicle during the tenure of the policy. Here are the important features of the SBI General multi-year bike insurance policy:

  • No hassles of renewing the insurance policy every year.
  • Continued protection for 2 or 3 years at discounted premium.
  • In case of a total loss claim made during the first or second year of the policy, unused premium will be refunded on pro-rata basis.
  • No effect of change in service tax on premium

No Claim Bonus (NCB)

No Claim Bonus is a discount extended by the insurer if you have not made any claim on your bike insurance policy during the preceding year. The NCB can go as much as 50% depending on the number of claim-free years. However, the NCB can only be availed if the insurance policy is renewed within 90 days of expiry of the existing policy.

Transfer of No Claim Bonus

The No Claim Bonus can be transferred if you switch your bike insurance policy from one insurer to another one.

Discounts on SBI General Two-Wheeler Insurance Policy

  • A voluntary deductible up to 25% of the premium can be chosen (subject to a maximum of Rs.750).
  • No Claim Bonus up to 50% can be availed.
  • Additional discount up to 2.5% of the premium on installing an anti-theft device in the vehicle.
  • A discount up to 5% can be availed if the policyholder has a membership of a recognised automobile association.
  • Special concession on vehicles designed for physically or mentally challenged persons.
  • Up to 5% and 8% discount on bike insurance policy for a period of 2 years and 3 years respectively.

  • A representative from the SBI General Insurance will get in touch with you and provide all the needed details along with the requirement of documents to initiate the claim process.
  • The claims executive/claims manager will reach out to you within 24 hours of intimating the claim.
  • Submit the required documents to the claims executive/claims manager who will verify the documents against the originals.
  • The insurance company will initiate the claim process and settle the same within 30 days of final survey and receipt of documents (as per the IRDA policyholders interest regulation 2017)

    For my honda I took bike insurance from SBI insurance, bike is around 13 years, the premium is good. I paid the amount around Rs.700 for one year, its a third party insurance, there is no claim. The insured value is good and SBI got tied up with some service centers.

    When I availed the two wheeler loan the two wheeler insurance also offered by default. I was told that hundred percent of coverage will be provided by the SBI general insurance. Premium is about 600 to 700 rupees. Coverage on this insurance is near about 50thousand.
