    Motorcycle enthusiasts saw the spy images of an updated Royal Enfield Classic being tested in the month of March this year. Some new images of the motorcycle have surfaced online, and these images reveal a lot of new details about the latest update of the motorcycle.

    The motorcycle can be expected to come with a completely new engine as the images reveal the disc brakes being shifted to the right-hand side as opposed to the left-hand side in the outgoing models.   • Royal Enfield is one of the largest premium motorcycle manufacturer in India

    The company is now planning to invest Rs.700 crore in the form of capital expenditure for the present financial year. The amount allocated will be spent on constructing a technology centre, developing new products and platforms, and the constructions of the phase-2 of the plant in Tamil Nadu. Close to 8.22 lakh units were sold by Royal Enfield in the last financial year. The production capacity guidance value was 9.25 lakh. This was reduced from the initial target of 9.5 lakh set by the company. Royal Enfield is planning to produce 9.5 lakh vehicles for the 2019-20 fiscal. The current production capacity of the company stands at 90,000 units a month which is close to 10.8 lakh units every year. Building of phase 2 of the plant will help the company produce 25,000 more Royal Enfield bikes every month. This will help increase the production capacity of the company to 13.8 lakh. Sales of the bike reduced by 13% during the January-December quarter. The company is hopeful of achieving a growth rate of 16% this year.

  • Royal Enfield set to invest Rs.700 crore in 2019-20

    The last financial year was not a great one for Indian two wheeler manufacturers, Royal Enfield. The company had witnessed a drop in the sales figures owing to a number of factors. However, for the new financial year, the automaker has decided to make an investment of Rs.700 crore as the capital expenditure.

    The speculated capital expenditure is tagged to the completion of construction of the technology centre which is being set up in Vallam Vadagal in Tamil Nadu. The money will also be used towards the betterment of platforms and products. In addition to all these things, the company also has set a target of setting out an output of 9.5 lakh units of motorcycles. While talking about the investment plans of the company, Siddhartha Lal said that the company will be focusing on the upcoming transition to the BS-VI emission norms. This will be carried out in addition to the strengthening of the product development capacity of the company. The products which will have maximum reworking during this tenure are the most popular Royal Enfield Classic, Royal Enfield Bullet, and Royal Enfield Thunderbird models. It can be safely concluded that RE is already working on these motorcycles as some of them have been recently spotted on the Indian roads while they were on test runs.

Under the new price list, the price for Bullet Electra has dropped by over Rs.2,000, and the price for 500cc motorcycles have increased by over Rs.1,000 – Rs.2,000. Currently, the company has announced the prices for the Chennai market only.

  • Royal Enfield and Yamaha Record Increase in Two-Wheeler Sales

    The festive period in India has been of relative benefit to the two-wheeler industry as sales have risen significantly in the recent past. Royal Enfield revealed that a growth of 32% was recorded in sales, while Yamaha reported a 22% increase in sales. Royal Enfield sold more than 58,000 units in October 2016, marking a significant increase from the 44,000+ vehicles sold in the same month a year ago. Even India Yamaha Motor recorded strong growth over the past year, selling around 86,500 units in October 2016, compared to the 70,000+ units sold in the same month last year. This upward trend is expected to continue each year during the festive season due to an increasing number of buyers in addition to attractive pricing.
