Process Of Passport Reissue
Passport reissue is generally required after 10 years of issuance. You can check the expiration date on your passport, which is the date followed by either 'Final or 'F indicating the last day of activation. Passport reissue applications can be made from within 1 year from the date of expiry and any time after expiry. Passport reissue is often confused with the term passport renewal, which is done only in special circumstances such as Short Validity Passports (SVP).
In case of passport reissue, the new passport will be released while the old passport will be cancelled and returned. However, any of the active visas on the old passport will still be valid and can be used till expiry of the particular visa.
