The Income Tax Department of India will be creating a new mobile app that will assist in issuing Permanent Account Number (PAN) with the help of Aadhaar. This is being done to promote the Digital India drive of the Indian government. You can soon apply for a PAN simply by tapping a few options on your smartphone!
This new technique can be achieved with the help of the e-KYC facility of Aadhaar. The development of this new idea is at the beginning phase. This app will also help users to pay taxes online. You can also monitor your refunds competently with this app. With this new app, the government intends to make PAN application simpler in order to have more individuals under the tax circle.
The pilot project for this new app will be held after the Ministry of Finance approves the idea.
How will the new app for PAN application work?
The application process for PAN through this new app will be connected to the e-KYC facility of Aadhaar. This electronic facility will assist a PAN applicant, whether an individual or an entity, to complete the verification process for information related to address, date of birth, etc. through the biometric identification with the help of thumb impressions.
Why is PAN application being made easier?
The use of PAN is increasingly becoming mandatory for almost every purpose. PAN card is mandatory as an identification proof for many official applications. It is also compulsory to mention PAN for any form of high-value purchase or sale of specific goods and services. Apart from purchases and sales, you need to show your PAN even for cash withdrawals of Rs.50,000 and above.
Hence, the government is introducing brand new techniques to simplify the PAN application process. If you have Aadhaar without a PAN card, this new app is going to serve as a great boon to you. All you need is your unique identification number and then you can apply for your PAN with the e-KYC facility.
Aadhaar numbers are being extensively used for multiple purposes such as for creating bank accounts, obtaining a new mobile phone SIM card, digital payments that rely only on biometric ways, transfer of subsidies, etc.
This new app will also help in making sure that PAN information is secure and safe. It helps in preventing people from making fake PAN cards.
