Not Sure about Your Enrolment ID Number?
In case you are unsure of your Enrolment ID number all you need to do is check your application form. At the top of your acknowledgement slip you will see a 14 digit enrolment number as well as a 14 digit date and the time of your enrolment. These numbers make up you temporary Enrolment ID (EID).

If you already have your acknowledgement details with you, then you can check the status of your Aadhaar URN by following this step-by-step procedure:
- Open the official website of the UIDAI on your computer
- You will notice a link at the bottom right side of the opening page which says ‘Aadhaar Services’.
- Click on this link to go to the Aadhaar Kiosk page, where you will see a range of links displayed in relation to Aadhaar. You can also go to the ‘Get Aadhaar’ link, where you will see an option which says ‘Check Aadhaar Status’
- Choose the ‘Check Aadhaar Status’ option either on the Kiosk page or the ‘Get Aadhaar’ page
- A page will show up, which will prompt you to enter details in order to check your Aadhaar status
- You will be required to fill in all the blank spaces with relevant information, while the spaces marked with a ‘*’ are to be mandatorily filled in
- Enter your Enrolment ID number in the first space in the format given EID(9876/98765/9876)
- Enter the date and time in the second space in the format given ie: (dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm:ss)
- Enter the four digit security code that shows up on the screen
- Click on ‘Check Status’, which you will see at the bottom of the page
Procedure to Check Aadhaar Status without Acknowledgement Details
If you cannot remember your Enrolment number or if you have misplaced or lost your acknowledgement slip, you can still check on the status of your Aadhaar by following this step-by-step procedure:
- First, visit the UIDAI official website
- Scroll down to the ‘Aadhaar Services’ link towards the bottom of the screen and click on it
- On the next screen you will see a button which says ‘Find UID/EID’, which is the the fourth link on the left hand side of the page
- You will then be directed to a page which asks whether you would like to receive your lost Aadhaar Number or lost Enrolment Number
- If you want to receive your Enrolment Number, choose the ‘Enrolment No (EID)’ option
- Following this, you will be required to enter the following personal details in the spaces below:
- Your full name
- Your email id OR your mobile phone number (Please note that it is compulsory to provide either your registered email id or your registered mobile number in order to receive your lost EID/UID)
- Enter the security code that is displayed on the screen, which is in the form of random numbers
- Click the ‘Get OTP’ button
- Once you received the OTP in your email or your mobile phone enter it in the ‘Enter OTP’ space
- Click the ‘Verify OTP’ button
- You will then receive your Aadhaar Enrolment Number either by mail or on your phone as a text message

To then check your Aadhaar Status through your mobile phone, you will need to type out the following SMS or text message "UID STATUS <14 digit enrolment number>". For instance UID STATUS12345678912345
Send the SMS to 51969 to receive information regarding the status of your Aadhar
In the event your Aadhaar Card has already been issued, then a text message will be sent to you displaying your Aadhaar Card number. If the Aadhaar Card has not yet been generated then a text message will be sent to you displaying the present status of the card.
How to check Aadhar status through India Post?
The status of delivery for your Aadhar Card can be tracked online on the official website of India Post. With the help of the facilities offered by UIDAI, you can get the Aadhar card delivered to your house at no cost. After you are done with the enrolment of the Aadhar Card at the Aadhar centre, the Aadhar Card will be dispersed and sent to you at your residential address within a period of 60 days to 90 days. You may also check the delivery status of your Aadhar Card using the Aadhar number at any India Post Office.

Aadhaar enrolment camp for transgender community in Mangalore
After receiving complaints from the transgender community regarding their grievance in obtaining aadhaar cards, ration cards, housing, and bank accounts, Deputy Commissioner, K G Jagadeesha took charge of the situation. He directed the concerned departments to issue aadhaar cards without discrimination. The Parivartan Charitable Trust has organised an aadhaar enrolment camp for the transgender community at its office premises from 31st December to 2nd January. Recently, the Trust had applied for a self-employment scheme under the government, and succeeded in approving 10 applications already.

State to facilitate aadhar enrollment for students appearing for JEE (Mains) 2017
On 7th December, Odisha government announced that students appearing for next year’s JEE mains exams in April, will receive assistance in enrolling for an aadhar card. Minister Sanjay Das Burma said that facilities for enrolment will be deployed in all block, and civic bodies across the state. The Centre has set up 240 centres to enable aadhaar digitization of the students. Application for JEE mains exam has already begun, and is due to end by 2nd January, 2017. CBSE has made aadhaar card mandatory for all students appearing for JEE exams.
CBSE has set up facilitation centers in each city of examination for the purpose of aadhar enrolment. The list of the centres is available on www.jeemain.nic.in. Applicants who haven’t received their aadhaar card can enter their 28 digit aadhaar enrolment ID in the online application form. If such facilities are not available at the designated centres then students can submit a request for the same, and will be issued a registration number.

ATM Transactions Might be linked to you Aadhaar Card
Due to the increase in the number of Aadhaar card holders in the country the RBI has advised banks to include infrastructure for biometric authentication of ATM transactions. The new infrastructure will be put in place to increase security of transactions done through these machines. This decision has gained more importance due to the recent cyber-attack which affected approximately 32 lakh debits cards across 19 banks. The two-factor mechanism for authentication of transactions will help prevent further such attacks and will take users a step closer to cashless transactions. We will know of the success of this decision when banks release their new machines new year.

IDs Made Compulsory to Avail Daily Passes in PMPML
The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) has made it compulsory to show voter card or aadhar card for issuance of daily bus passes. The public transport service provider has made this announcement after receiving multiple complaints about the misuse of bus passes by commuters. The new rule will be effective from Tuesday. PMPML had slashed the prices of bus passes in August on account of the one year completion of Sangamwadi-Vishrantwadi BRTS corridor. With the outpouring of public opinions in support of the price cut, PMPML has extended the low-priced bus passes till February 2017.

Rs. 1.19 crore Spent to Publicize Aadhaar, Reveals RTI Query
The government has spent over Rs. 1. 19 crore on advertisements for Aadhaar cards in the financial year 2015-16, according to data revealed by an RTI query. The government has also incurred expenditure to the tune of Rs. 7, 600 crore to print the Aadhaar cards, including the actual process and the machines used for them.
The query was field by a petitioner who wished to know the amount spent by the government on the Aadhaar campaign since its inception.
In reply, the Central government released information stating it had spent over Rs. 24 lakh in 2013-14 on campaigns and advertisements for the scheme.
For the fiscal year 2014-15, the amount increased to almost Rs. 1 crore, and the amount spent inn 2015-16 was Rs. 1.19 crore.
As of yet, the amount spent by state governments on the scheme has not been released.
The RTI petitioner wished to know how the scheme had seen only 50% success rate in spite of the government spending such a large sum on publicity campaigns.

Over 93% citizens in India have unique identification number.
Currently, a billion people in India possess a unique identification number issued to them. The main purpose behind the implementation of the Aadhaar project in India was to ensure that all government subsidies go straightaway to the correct beneficiary with the help of this unique identification number that also works as an address proof. Now, over 93% citizens in India now have a smart card that offers them a unique identity.
In India, presently, Aadhaar number is used to distribute cooking gas, kerosene and payments for the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, Employees' Provident Fund and other government pension schemes. The government of India decides to include more services and social security programs under this unique identification number as per its new Aadhaar act. The new act also provides legal approval to the unique identification number program.
