    Whether you are enrolling for Aadhar for the first time, or are getting information updated, you will need to submit required documents that support your claims. Generally speaking the documentation that is required for registering with aadhar are simpler that many other services that require documentation. It is also divided into four categories that range from identity and address to date of birth and relationship. There are some documents that can even serve as proof of more than one thing. These documents will be needed when you apply for a new aadhar card or when you request for any changes to be made to your existing card.

    Supported Proof of Identity (PoI) Documents Required for New Aadhaar Card

    These are documents that establish that you are who you claim to be as seen on documents issued by various government bodies. The one common theme in all these documents is that they all need to be photo identity cards. The document must contain your name and photo. You can submit any of the following documents as identity proof and also used as KYC documents for Aadhar Card .

    1. Passport.
    2. Ration Card or PDS Photo Card.
    3. PAN Card.
    4. Driving License.
    5. Voter ID.
    6. NREGS Job Card.
    7. Government Photo ID Cards or PSU Issued Service Photo Identity Card.

    List of Supported Proof of Address (PoA) Documents For Aadhar Registration

    These are documents that prove that you are residing at the address that you have provided. This is a particularly import piece of information and should always be correct since the Aadhar card will be sent to this address. This means that if you make a mistake in the address, or fail to correct/update it in time, you will have trouble receiving the Aadhar card since it is only sent to the address mentioned on the application form. Your address proof must have your name and address. The following documents are accepted by the UIDAI as identity proof:

    1. Bank Statement or Passbook.
    2. Ration Card.
    3. Passport.
    4. Post Office Statement or Passbook.
    5. Voter ID.
    6. Government Photo ID Cards or PSU Issued Service Photo Identity Card.

    30. Gas Connection Bill (It should not be more than 3 months old).
    31. Disability ID Card or handicapped medical certificate that is issued by the respective State or Union Territory Government or Administrators.
    32. Passport of Parents (in case of minors).
    33. Passport of Spouse.
    34. Marriage Certificate that has the address and is issued by the Government.
    35. Allotment Letter of accommodation that is issued by the State or Central government and is not older than 3 years.

    Supported Proof of Date of Birth (DoB) Documents for Aadhar

    To prove the date of birth mentioned by you is accurate, the following required documents can be submitted at the time of Aadhar registration.

    1. SSLC Certificate or Book.
    2. Birth Certificate.
    3. Passport.
    4. PAN Card.
    5. Certificate of Date of Birth that is issued by Group A Gazetted Officer on a letterhead.
    6. Government Photo ID Cards or PSU Issued Photo Identity Card that contains the DoB.
    7. Mark sheet that has been issued by any Government University or Board.
    8. Central Government Health Service Scheme Photo Card or Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme Photo Card.
    9. State or Central Pension Payment Order.

    Supported Proof of Relationship (PoR) Documents Required For Aadhar Enrollment

    • Your proof of relationship must be a document that contains details about your relationship with the Head of Family. The following documents are accepted by the UIDAI as PoR:
    1. Passport.
    2. MNREGA Job Card.
    3. PDS Card.
    4. Pension Card.
    5. CGHS/ECHS/State Government/ESIC Medical Card.
    6. Army Canteen Card.
    7. Marriage Certificate Issued by the Government.
    8. Birth Certificate issued by the Registrar of Birth, Municipal Corporation and other notified local government bodies such as Tehsil, Taluk, etc.
    9. Any other State or Central government issued family entitlement document.

    Documents Required for Changing Aadhar Card Address

    The list of documents required for changing address on Aadhar Card are as follows:

    Let’s assume that you have none of the first three documents to prove your identity. It does not mean that you will not be able to apply for Aadhar. Here is how to apply for aadhar card without any documents

    Documents Required for Aadhaar Card for Child

    For children below 5 years old, UIDAI does not require biometrics. The UID for these children will be processed based on their facial photograph and demographic details that is linked with the UID of their parents. Once these children turn 5 years old, they have to be re-enrolled. During this re-enrollment process, their biometrics will be collected by UIDAI. Their biometrics will be updated again when they turn 15 years old.

    The documents required to aadhar card registration for child are as follows:

    • Proof of date of birth.
    • Identity and address proof.
    • Aadhaar card of any one of the parents.

    News About Documents Required For Aadhaar Card

    • All welfare schemes will come under the ambit of DBT

      The government is planning to bring all welfare schemes and subsidy schemes under the scope of the Direct Benefit Transfer Scheme soon. Over 500 schemes of 63 ministries will be implemented via Direct Benefit Transfer. The amount will have to be credited to the DBT Bharat portal for by the ministries and the Aadhaar number of the beneficiaries will also have to be provided.

      Currently, Aadhaar is being utilised as the identifier for correct targeting of all intended beneficiaries. If the beneficiary does not have an Aadhaar number, he/she can avail the same via other documents.

    • UIDAI to Increase Authentication Capacity

      UIDAI is getting hardware to increase authentication capacity to 10 crore transactions in one day. The Parliament was notified about the same today. The government has taken various steps such as social media campaigns, DigiShala TV and DigiDhan Mela to make people aware of digital payment enabled by Aadhaar.

    • Centre Re-Iterates Validity of Paper Aadhaar Card

      The Central Government has issued an advisory cautioning Aadhaar card holders from sharing their details with agencies who print Aadhaar details on plastic cards. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has stated that the black and white Aadhaar cards and the paper cards are accepted as valid identity proof across all services.

      A number of agencies charge between Rs.50 to Rs.200 to print Aadhaar details on a plastic card, which the tout as a ‘smart card’.

      For this reason, the UIDAI has issued its public advisory to assure individuals that the paper card is legally accepted everywhere.

      Furthermore, the UIDAI has warned such agencies against duping the public in the guise of providing such a service, which could result in imprisonment under the IPC and Chapter VI of the Aadhaar (Targeted Delivery of Financial and Other Subsidies, Benefits and Services) Act, 2016.

    • Aadhar Enrolment Stalls Set Up At Delhi Trade Fair

      With the aim of making Aadhaar card enrolment more accessible for individuals, a government e-service provider set up 5 Aadhaar enrolment stalls at the India International Trade Fair in New Delhi.

      According to sources, close to 5,000 individuals had registered for Aadhaar cards at the trade fair stalls.

      Individuals applying for an Aadhaar card need to provide their PAN number and proof of address. A fingerprint and iris scan would be taken at the time of enrolment.

      In addition to providing Aadhaar enrolment, the stalls were also offering plastic Aadhaar cards to existing Aadhaar card holders on payment of Rs.30.

    • 100% Aadhaar target set by Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation

      Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation(BMC) plans to enroll 100% citizens into Aadhaar and this also includes children below the age of five. BMC also plans to use tablets to increase efficiency. Any area or ward with a higher concentration of children below the age of five will have a special camp to cover every child. Registration for these children will be made at numerous Anganwadi Centres and the CDPOs will take necessary action to ensure this.

      For those between the ages of 5 to 18, the BEOs in the area or Block Education Officers will be the nodal officers. People who do not have an Aadhaar card will be mobilised for the same ward-wise.

    • Haryana Adds More Eligibility Conditions for ‘Shikshit Yuva-Sammanit Hua’ Scheme

      There are plans for initiating strict requisitory rules for people applying for schemes in Haryana which includes fulfilling particular conditions. These conditions include payment of electricity bills as well as house tax to name a few. This was announced by Minister of Haryana, Manohar Lal Khattar last week. The state will be tracking the unpaid bills for people applying for ‘Shikshit Yuva-Sammanit Hua’, which provides an honorarium of Rs. 9,000 to post-graduate unemployed people for every 100 work hours completed by them. It is also mandatory for these people to own an Aadhaar number.
