    What is e-Aadhaar?

    An e-Aadhaar is a digital copy of your Aadhaar card that is digitally signed by UIDAI. This is password protected and equally valid as the physical copy of the Aadhaar card.

    How to generate OTP for e-Aadhaar?

    You can generate your e-Aadhaar OTP by following any one of the three methods mentioned below.

    Method 1 – By providing your Aadhaar number

    To receive your e-Aadhaar OTP by providing your Aadhaar number, follow the steps mentioned below.

    • Log in to the official e-Aadhaar website
    • Under ‘Enter your personal details’ click on ‘Aadhaar’
    • Fill in the details as requested by the page
    • Click on ‘Request OTP’
    • An OTP will then be sent to the mobile number linked with the Aadhaar
    • Enter the OTP and click on ‘Download Aadhaar’
    • Your e-Aadhaar will then be generated which is also equally valid as the physical copy of the Aadhaar card

    Method 2 – By providing your VID (Virtual Identification)

    To receive your e-Aadhaar OTP by providing your VID, follow the steps mentioned below.

    • Log in to the official e-Aadhaar website
    • Under ‘Enter your personal details’ click on ‘VID’
    • Fill in the details as requested by the page
    • Click on ‘Request OTP’
    • An OTP will then be sent to the mobile number linked with the Aadhaar
    • Enter the OTP and click on ‘Download Aadhaar’
    • Your e-Aadhaar will then be generated which is also equally valid as the physical copy of the Aadhaar card

    Method 3 – By providing your Enrolment ID

    To receive your e-Aadhaar OTP by providing your enrolment ID, follow the steps mentioned below.

    • Log in to the official e-Aadhaar website
    • Under ‘Enter your personal details’ click on ‘Enrolment ID’
    • Fill in the details as requested by the page
    • Click on ‘Request OTP’
    • An OTP will then be sent to the mobile number linked with the Aadhaar
    • Enter the OTP and click on ‘Download Aadhaar’
    • Your e-Aadhaar will then be generated which is also equally valid as the physical copy of the Aadhaar card

    What is e-Aadhaar password?

    After you have obtained the OTP to download your e-Aadhaar, you will can download a PDF containing your e-Aadhaar. In order to view this information, you are required to input a password. This password is a combination of the first four letters of your name as per your Aadhaar card and your year of birth. Mentioned below are a few examples of e-Aadhaar passwords.

    Example 1:

    Name of the cardholder: ARUN KUMAR

    Year of Birth: 1976

    Then e-Aadhar password will be: ARUN1976

    Example 2:

    Name of the cardholder: ALI MONDAL

    Year of Birth: 1976

    Then e-Aadhar password will be: ALIM1976

    Example 3:

    Name of the cardholder: S.N. SHEKHARAN

    Year of Birth: 1976

    Then e-Aadhar password will be: S.N.1976

    Example 4:

    Name of the cardholder: RAJ

    Year of Birth: 1976

    Then e-Aadhar password will be: RAJ1976

    Why is e-Aadhaar password protected?

    E-Aadhaar card is password protected to ensure that no one misuses the data contained in the document. The digital form of the document is given a password by the UIDAI to increase the security of the file’s data.
