If you have lost or misplaced your Aadhaar Card, the UIDAI has made it possible for all residents to acquire a duplicate card through a simple procedure. In case you do not know or are unsure of your Aadhaar number, or if you have lost or misplaced your acknowledgement slip that you acquired at during the time of registration then you can download a duplicate copy of your Aadhaar card by visiting the UIDAI’s website.
How To Acquire A Duplicate Aadhaar Card
By following the steps outlined below, you can get a duplicate Aadhaar card if have misplaced your Aadhaar card or if you don’t know your Enrolment ID or Aadhaar number.
Go to the official UIDAI website by entering the website in your browser
At the bottom right corner of your screen click on the link that says ‘Aadhaar Services’
Following this you will be directed to the Aadhaar Kiosk page
Among the links at the top of the page, click on the link that says ‘Get Aadhaar’
You will be asked to choose the relevant option at the first instance:
‘You want to receive your lost - Aadhaar Number (UID) or Enrolment Number (EID)
Next fill in your relevant personal details:
Full Name - Enter your full name in the space provided
Email ID / Mobile Number - Enter your Email ID or Mobile Number (It is necessary to enter the Email ID or the Mobile Number which you had provided at the time of registration. This is necessary in order to receive your lost UID/EID)
Enter the 4 digit security that is displayed on the screen
Click on the OTP button
After this you will receive an OTP (One Time Password) at the Email ID or the mobile number you provided
Enter the OTP in the space provided
Click on the ‘Verify OTP’ button
Your duplicate Aadhaar card will then be downloaded in the form of a PDF document
You can access the document by entering your Pin Code as the password
Following this you can take a print out of the document, which will be your e-Aadhaar Card
The e-Aadhaar Card is as valid as the original Aadhaar Card you acquired via post. The Aadhaar Card printout is acceptable as a valid identity proof as well as proof of residence wherever it may be required as identification.
