CG Transport and Vehicle Registration Process in Chhattisgarh

Vehicle dealers in Chhattisgarh are authorised to help customers in two-wheeler registration. The vehicles will be enrolled through the Online Dealer Point registration system.

The vehicle owner will have to pay the necessary taxes and fees and will receive the temporary registration number. Once all the submitted documents are verified, the RC Smart Card will be sent to the vehicle owner.

The documents required for two-wheeler registration in Chhattisgarh are as listed below: 

  1. Form 20 
  2. Sales certificate 
  3. Roadworthiness certificate 
  4. Two-wheeler insurance certificate 
  5. Address proof of the owner 
  6. Form 34 - attested by the owner and the financing bank 
  7. Form 60 and 61 or PAN card (as applicable) 
  8. Invoice from the vehicle manufacturer

Dealer Point Registration For A New Vehicle

Just like a two wheeler insurance or a car insurance, vehicle registration is also mandatory in India. The dealers are authorised to collect the necessary documents from the customers and complete the vehicle registration process. They can enroll the vehicle through the Online Dealer Point registration system, pay the necessary taxes and fees, and assign you a temporary vehicle registration number. Once the RTO verifies and approves your documents, they will send the RC Smart Card to your registered address via post. Below is the list of documents required for the purpose:

  1. Duly-filled CMV Form 20 along with the imprint of engine number and chassis number
  2. Sales certificate in CMV Form 21 issued by the dealer of the vehicle
  3. Roadworthiness certificate in Form 22 provided by the vehicle manufacturer
  4. Vehicle Insurance Certificate
  5. Address proof of vehicle owner
  6. Form 34 attested by the vehicle owner and the vehicle financer (in case of hypothecation)
  7. Payment of applicable one-time road tax
  8. Payment of applicable registration fee
  9. Form 60 and 61, or Pan Card (as required)
  10. Invoice from the manufacturer or dealer

CG Transport Validity And Effectiveness of Vehicle Registration Certificate (RC)

  1. A vehicle Registration Certificate is valid across India.
  2. For private/non-transport vehicles, a Registration Certificate is valid for 15 years post which it must be renewed in an interval of five years.
  3. For transport vehicles, a Registration Certificate remains valid only for a period of two years, post which, a vehicle fitness certificate must be obtained by the vehicle owner every year from the DTO/RTO/Registering Authority. You may also like to read .

Recording of Change of Address In Vehicle RC Book

In case there is a change in your address, the same must be recorded in the RC Book. This is important to maintain the communication with the transport authorities and to avoid any hassles while making claims on your insurance policy.

Documents Required To Record Change of Address In the RC Book

  1. Original Registration Certificate of the vehicle
  2. Duly-filled CMV Form 33
  3. Attested copy of the vehicle Insurance Certificate
  4. Copy of new address proof attested by the registered owner of the vehicle
  5. Pollution Under Control (PUC) Certificate
  6. Applicable registration fee
  7. Attested copy of Form 60 and 61 or PAN Card (as required)
  8. In case the vehicle is under hypothecation, a No Objection Certificate (NOC) must be obtained from the vehicle financer

CG Transport for Vehicle Ownership Transfer

In case you decide to sell your vehicle or transfer the ownership of the vehicle to another person, the following documents are required to be submitted at the RTO/DTO.

  1. Original Registration Certificate of the vehicle
  2. Duly-filled form 29 (2 copies)
  3. Duly-filled form 30 (2 copies)
  4. Insurance Certificate of the vehicle
  5. Address proof of the person to whom the vehicle is transferred
  6. Copy of the PUC Certificate
  7. Applicable registration fee
  8. Attested copy of PAN Card or Form 60 and 61 (as applicable)
