    IMPS, otherwise known as Immediate Payment Service is an instant electronic fund transfer service which facilitates bank-to-bank fund transfers. HDFC also offers its customers the IMPS service via its MobileBanking and NetBanking platforms. Using IMPS, not only you can send money to an account held not only to another HDFC bank account but also to an account held with an IMPS participating bank. This service is available on all days of the week and allows for instant credit or funds to the beneficiary’s account.

    Who Is Eligible For HDFC Bank IMPS Facility

    All HDFC Bank customers holding an account with the bank who have also registered their mobile number with the bank are eligible to carry out IMPS transactions.

    Features of HDFC Bank IMPS Facility

    • Charges - As on March 31st, IMPS transactions up to the value of Rs.1,000 to be carried can be done free of charge. Transactions ranging between Rs.1,001 to Rs.1 lakh will be charged at the rate of Rs.5 and transactions amounting between the range of Rs.1 lakh to Rs.2 lakh will be charged Rs.10. All charges are exclusive of tax.
    • Send Money using account number and IFSC code of bank branch or using mobile number and MMID.
    • Available on Multiple platforms - you can access HDFC Bank’s IMPS facility on your android device, android tablet, iPhone, Windows tablet or BBZ10 apps.

    How To Transfer Money Via HDFC Bank IMPS

    Following is the step wise process to transfer money via IMPS using various channels like NetBanking, MobileBanking and USSD.

    Via Net Banking

    • Login to the HDFC Bank NetBanking portal and go to "Funds Transfer".
    • Now, select ‘IMPS Funds Transfer’ and type in your account number and other details before confirming the transaction.
    • Once the transaction has gone through, you will instantly receive a confirmation message for the transaction.

    Mobile Banking - Android/Android Tablet/iPhone/Windows Tablet/BB Z10 Apps

    • Log on to HDFC’s MobileBanking
    • Select the ‘Fund Transfer’ option and choose ‘Other Bank using IMPS’.
    • Choose ‘Using IFSC/AC No.’ to transfer funds using IFSC code.
    • Choose the beneficiary, enter the amount to be sent, make any remarks and confirm the transaction.
    • Once the transaction has gone through, you will instantly receive a confirmation message for the transaction.

    MobileBanking - BlackBerry

    • Log on to HDFC’s MobileBanking
    • Select ‘Third Party Transfer’ and choose ‘IMPS Funds Transfer’.
    • Choose ‘Using IFSC/AC No.’ to transfer funds using IFSC code.
    • Choose the beneficiary, provide details like beneficiary’s mobile number, MMID, amount and confirm the transaction.
    • Once the transaction has gone through, you will instantly receive a confirmation message for the transaction.

    MobileBanking - iPhone App

    • Log on to HDFC’s MobileBanking
    • Click on ‘Fund Transfer’ and choose ‘Other Bank using IMPS’.
    • Choose ‘Using MMID’ to transfer funds using MMID.
    • Choose the beneficiary, provide details like beneficiary’s mobile number, MMID, amount and confirm the transaction.
    • Once the transaction has gone through, you will instantly receive a confirmation message for the transaction.

    MobileBanking - Browser

    • Visit m.hdfcbank.com and go to ‘Third party Fund Transfer’.
    • Now, choose ‘IMPS Funds transfer using Account number’.
    • Choose the beneficiary, input the amount and confirm the transaction.
    • Once the transaction has gone through, you will instantly receive a confirmation message for the transaction.

    Via USSD - Using IFSC & Account No. OR MMID & Mobile No

    • Dial *99# using your mobile phone.
    • Input IFSC as HDFC.
    • Depending on which option you are using, select either ‘Fund Transfer- Account number’ or ‘Fund transfer-MMID’.
    • Based on the option you have selected to transfer funds, you need to enter either IFSC and Account number or MMID and mobile number of the beneficiary.
    • Now input the MPIN and last 4 digits of your bank account number.
    • Input the amount you have to sent and confirm the transaction.
    • Once the transaction has gone through, you will receive an SMS confirmation for the transaction.

    Beneficiary Details Required For HDFC Bank IMPS

    To transfer funds via IMPS, you need either of the following information, depending on the option you choose to transfer funds.

    · Beneficiary’s bank account number and bank branch IFSC code.

    · Beneficiary’s mobile number and MMID (Mobile Money Identifier).

    1. How do I get my MPIN for an IMPS transaction?

      You can get your MPIN b calling the bank’s phone banking customer care department who will send you your MPIN by the next working day.

    2. Are IMPS transactions free or chargeable?

      IMPS transactions up to Rs.1,000 are free. Beyond that the following charges are levied:

      · Rs.1,001 to Rs.1 lakh - Rs.5

      · Rs.1 lakh to Rs.2 lakh - Rs.10

    3. Can I make an IMPS transaction using a mobile browser?

      Yes, you can carry out an IMPS transaction from the browser of your mobile phone.

    4. What happens to my funds if I have mis-entered the details of the beneficiary?

      HDFC has a doubly safe process for IMPS money transfer where the sender must enter the beneficiary’s mobile number and MMID to transfer. Without that, the transaction will not go through.

    5. Can I transfer funds anytime using IMPS?

      Yes, you can transfer funds any time using IMPS.
