In recent years, there has been an upsurge in the demand for fancy two wheeler registration numbers in Kerala. The God’s Own Country is a home for people of different religious beliefs and lifestyles. This perhaps is the reason why many people in the state believe that certain numbers bring them luck or enhance their social status. The Kerala Motor Vehicles Department has put in place a process for fancy number booking in Kerala. The regional transport authority is aware that people are willing to pay extra sums to get their favourite vehicle numbers. Thus, it has blocked a list of registration numbers which would be categorised under fancy numbers. These special numbers are allotted through a separate bidding process.
Process of Booking A Fancy Bike Number In Kerala
- The first step to book a VIP number is to reserve the number you are interested in by paying the predetermined reservation fee as mentioned in the Kerala MVD website. Once you reserve the number, you will get the access to that number for a limited period post which the reservation will expire. If there are too many reservations for a particular vehicle number, the transport department may allot the same number through an auction.
- The list of numbers available for issue can be seen on the official Kerala MVD website. You may also check the current reservation status of your preferred number on the website.
- If the special number you are looking for is available for issue, you may contact the respective RTO and reserve the number as per the fee prescribed in the website. For example, the reservation fee for registration number KL-01-CF-4491 is Rs.3000.
- If you wish to get the bike number which is already booked, the number will be called out for an auction
- The applicant making the highest bid for a particular vehicle registration number will be the winner. They will be allotted the number on payment of the balance amount within a specific period of time. If they fail to pay the same, the allotment will be cancelled and the number will be again put in the list of available numbers.
