Fancy vehicle numbers are the latest fad amongst young motorcycle buyers. With rising living standards in Odisha, people in the state have a great demand for cruisers and mid to premium range motorcycles due to their increased interest in adventure and travel. Fancy vehicle numbers make the motorcycles look unique and tell a lot about the persona of the rider. Some fancy numbers like 007 (James Bond), 786 (Islamic number), 8055 (Reads ‘BOSS’), 1111, 0001, 3333, 7777, 6666, 9999, and others are in great demand as they carry a certain appeal. However, getting a VIP registration number for your bike may not be as easy as it used to be a few years ago. For certain numbers, there exists a huge demand. And this is why these are allotted by way of auction. In Odisha, a list of fancy numbers are kept aside by the state government which are allocated through online mechanisms.

Components of A Vehicle Registration Number
A vehicle RC, bike insurance certificate, and a PUC certificate are some of the most important documents that a vehicle should have. A vehicle number plate provides important details about the vehicle. It has four main components. A vehicle number begins with a two-letter code which is assigned to the state where the vehicle belongs to. For example, the state code for Odisha is OD. The next component of the vehicle number plate is the two-digit code which represents the RTO where a particular vehicle is registered. The third and most significant component of a vehicle registration number is the four-digit registration number assigned to the vehicle by the concerned registering authority. These registration numbers always fall in the range of 0001 to 9999. Once all the numbers from this range are allocated to vehicles, the same range is used again by placing two more letters before the registration number.
