It also provides its customers with mobile banking services. The bank's mobile banking application, OnlineSBI, offers its customers a variety of services that can be carried out through their smartphones. SBI's Short Message Service (SMS) banking service offers its customers the ability to check their last five transactions, make enquiries about their savings account balance, transfer funds through Immediate Payment Service (IMPS) and recharge their mobile phones and Direct To Home (DTH) cable connections.

SBI SMS Banking Registration

  1. Registering for the SMS banking facility involves obtaining a User ID and Mobile Banking Personal Identification Number (MPIN). The section that follows lists the procedure for obtaining these credentials.
  2. To obtain the User ID through SMS, the customer should send to 9223440000/567676 from the mobile number registered with the bank.
  3. The customer will then receive their User ID with a system generated MPIN.
  4. The system generated MPIN should be changed as soon as possible to ensure the security of SMS banking transactions.
  5. To change the MPIN, the customer should send to 9223440000. The customer will receive an SMS confirming the change in MPIN.
  6. Registration for SMS banking can be done through an SBI ATM or SBI branch.

Registration through ATMs

  1. The customer should visit an SBI ATM and swipe their ATM/Debit Card.
  2. From the list of options displayed, the customer should choose "Mobile Registration".
  3. The customer should then enter their ATM PIN and select the "Registration" option under the "Mobile Banking" category.
  4. After selecting the "Registration" option, the customer should enter their mobile number.
  5. The customer's mobile number will then be displayed on the screen and the customer should select the "Confirm" option.
  6. An SMS notification will then be sent to the customer's mobile number with regard to the success of the registration.

Registration through bank branch

  1. The customer can register for SMS banking services by visiting the bank branch.
  2. The system generated MPIN should be changed before the customer visits the bank branch to register for SMS banking.
  3. The customer's SMS banking facilities will be enabled after the customer sends to 9223440000 to confirm their acceptance of the bank's terms and conditions for using the SMS banking services.

Rules for using SBI SMS Banking

  1. According to SBI's SMS banking rules, a customer can transfer a maximum of Rs. 1,000 in a single transaction. In addition, there is also Rs.5,000 limit on the funds that can be transferred each month.
  1. Funds are transferred to beneficiary accounts through IMPS. This is possible only when the beneficiary's account is linked to their mobile number and they have a Mobile Money ID (MMID) issued by their bank.

  2. Customers can refer to these templates and send the text messages in the same format to 9223440000 or 567676. Standard SMS charges apply for text messages sent to the bank.
