Central Bank of India UPI App

In August 2016, National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) launched UPI, a real-time fund transfer system using Virtual Payment Address (VPA). Central Bank’s Cent UPI app, available on Google Play, is accessible to both its users and customers of other banks.

  1. Multiple accounts: There is just one payment method connecting numerous bank accounts. Your bank needs to be an UPI participant. The UPI App will only display current, overdraft, and savings accounts. On the app, a bank account linked to a debit card will be accessible. 
  2. Funds transfer: Funds transfer can be made via a VPA, MMID or a combination of your bank account and IFSC code
  3. Any bank account: UPI apps are not limited to one bank. Customers of any bank can use UPI app of any other bank. 
  4. Zero transaction charge: No transaction charge for banking transactions made using the UPI App. 
  5. Instant payment: Transferring money is not just instantaneous, but also possible whenever you choose. The UPI app is available 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. 
  6. Many UPI Apps: On a single Android smartphone, you can utilise numerous UPI apps. Currently, only Android users can access the UPI App. You will have to register anew if you change your SIM card, phone, or UPI app. 

All you need is an active bank account, a mobile number registered with the bank, and an android mobile to use the UPI app.

  1. Secure payment: The UPI App makes it simple to make payments to merchants. Two-factor authentication is a safe payment method. 
  2. Link bank accounts: Cent UPI is a single app to which multiple bank accounts can be linked. Any active bank accounts can be linked not just the Central Bank of India bank account. 
  3. Funds transfer: Money can be moved to any bank account, cellphone number, Aadhaar number, or VPA. To send money to a mobile number, the bank account's MMID must be provided. Only domestic transactions are currently permitted. 
  4. Instant money transfer: The money transfer is instant. Thus, saving waiting period on the payee's part. UPI operates 24/7 unlike NEFT or RTGS

How to use Cent UPI?

Listed below is the step-by-step process of how to use Cent UPI: 

Step 1: On your Android smartphone, download the UPI app from the Google Play Store. Read the user manual after opening the app. Click the 'Register' tab after everything is finished. 

Step 2: The app will send a verification code to your mobile number. 

Step 3: Mobile number: It's best to use the cell number that your bank has on file. In the event that you have two SIM cards, the app will ask you to select one. Input the SMS code to confirm. 

Step 4: Registration form: You will have to fill up a registration form with your name, email ID, and a VPA of your choice. Agree to the T&C and sign up with Cent UPI. 

Step 5: Login PIN: You will have to set a 6-digit PIN as your login PIN. This PIN is required to login to the app whenever you want to use it. 

Step 6: Features of Cent UPI: Once you are registered and signed into the app, you will see the homepage of the app containing various features such as Send Money, Receive Money, Transaction History, etc. 

Step 7: Link bank account: You need to link a bank account to the app before you can make any transactions. You are not limited to linking only a Central Bank of India bank account—you can link any number of bank accounts. The 'Add Bank Account' tab will be clicked. Through the drop-down menu, you may select your bank. It will show your bank account number. 

Step 8: VPA: For each bank account, you can only select one VPA. You can keep your bank account and other personal information private when you use VPA. It is possible to produce up to 10 VPAs for a bank account. 

Step 9: MPIN: Using the information from your debit card, you must create an MPIN. To verify the MPIN setup, an OTP will be produced and texted to the registered cellphone number. 

Cent UPI is easy to use and available to customers of all UPI participating banks.
