Bank of Baroda UPI App

In August, 2016, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) launched a digital payment method called Unified Payment Interface (UPI). This interface operates on a real-time fund transfer system that enables users to carry out transactions via a Virtual Payment Address (VPA). This app doesn't require details such as bank account and IFSC code to facilitate payments.

Bank of Baroda has launched a UPI app called bob World UPI which can be downloaded from the Google Play Store. This app is currently available only for Android users. Any bank customers, not just BOB customers, can use for their banking needs.

  1. Many bank accounts can be linked using UPI App.
  2. Fund transfers does not require bank account details, instead a VPA is used to facilitate the transfer.
  3. Customers of other banks can use the same UPI App.
  4. There is zero transaction charge for banking transactions made using the UPI App.
  5. UPI App is a single payment system that operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Currently, the UPI App is available only to Android users.

  1. Bank of Baroda has launched a standalone app for phones without an internet connection, *99# banking services.
  2. Funds can be transferred to any VPA, bank account, Aadhaar number, and mobile number. In order to transfer money to a mobile number, MMID of the bank account is required.
  3. The money transfer is instant. Thus, saving waiting period on the payee's part.
  4. A payee can send a request for payment from a payer through the app. The payer will receive a notification on the app of the same.
  5. A QR code can be generated to ask for a specific amount of money to be transferred. The payer has to just scan the QR code to make payment.

How to use bob World UPI?

Listed below is the step-by-step process of how to use bob World UPI:

  1. Download the UPI app from Google Play Store on your Android mobile. Open the app and read the user guidelines on UPI App and Baroda MPay. On completion, click on the 'Register' tab.
  2. The app would send a verification code to your mobile number. It is advisable to use the mobile number that is registered with your bank. If you are using dual SIM, the app will prompt you to choose one. Enter the SMS code for verification.
  3. You will have to fill up a registration form with your name, email ID, and a VPA of your choice. The VPA suffix will end with @barodampay. Agree to the T&C and sign up with bob World UPIy.
  4. You will have to set a 6-digit PIN as your login PIN. This PIN is required to login to the app whenever you want to use it.
  5. Once you are registered and signed into the app, you will see the home page of the app containing various features such as Balance Enquiry, Collect Money, Send Money, Scan and Pay, Pay Bill, Approve Pay, Add Bank Account, Generate QR Code, etc.
  6. Before doing any transaction, you will have to link a bank account to the app. You can link any number of bank accounts, doesn't have to be just a BOB bank account.
  7. Click on the 'Add Bank Account' tab. You can choose your bank from the drop-down. Your bank account number will be visible. You have to choose one VPA for a bank account. After which, you will be required to set an MPIN using your debit card details. An OTP will be generated and sent via SMS to your registered mobile number for authentication.

  • What are the charges for using BHIM Baroda Pay UPI?

     You can use BHIM Baroda Pay UPI for free. The mobile app uses mobile internet data and messaging, for which you will be charged according to your telecom provider's data and messaging plan. 

  • Is a Bank of Baroda, Dena, or Vijay Bank account required in order to use the corresponding UPI applications of these banks?

      No, anyone who has a bank account that is eligible for UPI applications may use any of these UPI apps. However, you should have an account with a UPI-enabled bank.  

  • Can I use BHIM Baroda Pay abroad?

      Yes, you can use BHIM Baroda Pay abroad. The roaming facility will be available on the same number. 

  • Is it possible to have multiple UPI applications?

      You can use the same mobile number to register for multiple UPI apps from various banks, each with its own associated bank accounts. 

  • Do I have to register before using UPI to make transactions?

      Yes, registration is mandatory to use UPI apps.  

  • Why am I unable to set my UPI PIN despite providing valid debit card information?

      You can only set the UPI PIN for the account that is linked to the active debit card. Please get in touch with your branch if your card is not linked to your account. 

  • Is it possible to link UPI with my NRE/NRO Accounts?

      No, the option to link NRE or NRO accounts with UPI is currently not available.  

  • How many bank accounts can one virtual payment address be linked to?

    Multiple bank accounts can be linked to one virtual payment address. However, one default bank account must be set for that VPA. 

  • Where can I find a list of all my previous transactions?

    The 'Transaction History' section of the application allows you to view the last 20 transactions you made. You can also search through the advanced search option, which allows you to search by date and transaction amount for the previous one month.

  • What is the transaction limit for UPI transactions for first time users?

    The transaction limit for UPI transactions for first time users is Rs.5,000.
