HDFC Bank RTGS Fund Transfer

HDFC Bank offers RTGS (Real Time Gross Settlement) services which is an electronic funds transfer system that enables immediate transfer of money. The term “gross settlement” means that transactions are processed individually rather than in batches.

Account holders can start their RTGS transactions by using the bank’s online banking platform or by visiting a branch. HDFC Bank allows customers to carry out RTGS transfers free of charge through its mobile banking application. Savings of account holders may also authorize the bank to debit the transfer amount directly from their account. 

To make the process even easier, HDFC Bank allows customers to schedule RTGS transfers in advance. This feature lets users set a future date for the payment, and the bank automatically completes the transfer on that day. 

HDFC Bank RTGS Form 

To make an RTGS transfer, the customer needs to fill out the RTGS form of the bank from which the transfer is being made. HDFC Bank, one of the leading banks in the country, offers a simple and easy-to-use RTGS application form. 

You will need the following details to fill the HDFC RTGS form

  1. Name of the beneficiary 
  1. Beneficiary’s address 
  1. Name and address of the beneficiary’s bank branch 
  1. IFSC code of the beneficiary’s bank 
  1. Beneficiary’s account number 
  1. Amount to be transferred through RTGS 

Providing accurate information is important to ensure that the RTGS transaction is processed smoothly without delay.

  1. Name and code of the branch from which the RTGS request is being made. 
  1. Date of initiating the transaction 
  1. Time of initiating the transaction 

After filling in all the required details, you must sign at the bottom of the form. The bank will then issue an acknowledgement copy of the application for your reference.  

The HDFC RTGS form is the same for both HDFC and non-HDFC customers. It can also be used to apply for NEFT transactions. You will also need to attach a cheque made payable to “HDFC Bank Ltd. - RTGS.”

HDFC Bank RTGS Timings 

HDFC Bank offers 24*7 RTGS services for online transactions. However, there is a brief cut-off period from 11:30 PM to 12:30 AM, during which RTGS services are unavailable. 

If you’re requesting RTGS offline, you must check the applicable timings directly with the bank, as they may vary. There are some days when bank services remain closed. These are Sundays, second and fourth Saturdays, and declared bank holidays. 

What Happens if an RTGS Transaction is Delayed 

If an RTGS transfer is not completed on time despite being initiated within HDFC Bank’s RTGS hours, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) guidelines apply. As per these rules, if the transaction fails or is delayed, the transfer amount must be credited back to the sender’s bank account within one hour. 

In case the delay continues or the refund is not received, the sender can raise a complaint. If the issue remains unsolved, it can be further escalated to the RBI’s customer service department for assistance. 

RTGS Transfer Limits at HDFC Bank 

HDFC Bank allows customers to transfer a minimum amount of Rs.2 lakh through RTGS. 

The maximum transferable amount for RTGS transactions depends on the customer’s Third-Party Transfer (TPT) limit. However, HDFC Bank permits RTGS transfers of up to Rs.50 lakh through net banking, subject to the customer’s set limit. 

Charges of HDFC RTGS 

To make online RTGS pay any fees as it is free of cost but if you’re processing the transfer offline from bank branch, there will be a charge of Rs.15 with applicable GST.
