Features and Benefits of HDFC Bank Reimbursement Account

  1. As already mentioned, the HDFC Bank Reimbursement Account is a zero balance account. In other words, with this account there is no minimum balance requirement.
  2. Customers can easily distinguish between the reimbursement account and the salary account. They can choose from which account they would wish to carry out a transaction at online or retail merchant establishments or make a withdrawal from ATMs.
  3. On opening the savings account, customers are granted a free chequebook.
  4. Customers can make use of the debit card linked with the salary account to carry out transactions and make withdrawals.
  5. If required, customers can also request for a debit card for the reimbursement account.
  6. The HDFC Bank Reimbursement Account comes with the benefit of free e-mail statements, and email-alerts when the customer makes a transaction or withdrawal.
  7. Through HDFC Bank's BillPay facility, customers can pay their utility bills.
  8. Account holders have the benefit of carry out regular banking procedures through the free phone banking, mobile banking and net banking facilities.
  9. Only customers already holding a salary account are eligible to open a reimbursement account.
  10. As soon as this reimbursement account has been opened, the customer can request his/her employer to process the reimbursement.

Eligibility for HDFC Bank Reimbursement Account

To be eligible for the HDFC Bank Reimbursement Account, customers need to have an existing salary account.

Steps to open the HDFC Bank Reimbursement Account

  1. As already mentioned, the customer first needs to have an existing salary account with HDFC Bank to be able to open a reimbursement bank.
  2. Once the employer has opened a salary account, the customer can now visit the HDFC Bank holding the salary account with an Account Opening Document (AOD).
  3. On the Account Opening Document (AOD), the customer will be required to enter details such as the salary account number (to which the reimbursement account will be linked to) and the debit card number - which was issued when opening the salary account.
  4. As soon as the Account Opening Document (AOD) is verified by the bank, the process to open a reimbursement account will begin.
  5. The reimbursement account will be activated within a few days.
  6. Once the account has been opened, the customer can request his/her company to directly process the reimbursement dues to this account.

FAQs on HDFC Bank Reimbursement Account

  • Can I open a joint HDFC Reimbursement Account? What are the required documents?

    Yes, it is possible. For that to happen, the secondary account holder (who you will be sharing the account with) will have to submit his/her KYC documents for identification and address proof.

  • Can I update or remove a nominee in my HDFC Reimbursement Account?

    Yes, you can remove a nominee from the HDFC Bank Reimbursement Account as per your wishes. To make this happen, you can fill in an application and submit it at the nearest HDFC Bank branch or you can do it via your netbanking account.

  • Can I use this reimbursement account if I change employers? Do I need to change the account in this case?

    No, you can continue with the same account provided you submit a letter from your new employer stating your name, designation in the company, account number and a statement (in the letter) proving that you are indeed an employee of the company. Once this is submitted, you will receive your monthly payroll in the same account.

  • What documents are accepted for opening an HDFC Reimbursement Account?

    No, your company ID will not be accepted as identity or address proof. For this account and most other accounts with HDFC Bank, you will need to submit Government approved identification and address proof when applying to open the account.

  • Can I open more than one zero-balance account with HDFC Bank?

    As per the guidelines rolled out by the Reserve Bank of India, you can have only one zero-balance account with one bank at a time. Hence, opening a second zero-balance account will not be possible.
