The HDFC Bank Basic Salary Savings Bank Deposit Account is a zero-balance savings account and customers are granted a free RuPay debit card on opening the account.

    • As already mentioned, this basic savings salary account is a zero-balance account, meaning that the account holder is not required to maintain a minimum balance requirement.
    • On opening the account, the primary account holder is granted a free RuPay debit card.
    • Customers are also granted a free cheque book when opening the account.
    • With the RuPay debit card, HDFC Bank customers are granted 5 free withdrawals and bank enquiries in a month at other bank ATMs (other than HDFC Bank).

    1. Are there ways I can stop a cheque payment? Can you tell me how to do it?
    2. You can either stop a cheque payment either at your local HDFC Bank branch or via your net banking account. To stop a cheque payment through your HDFC net banking account, follow the steps mentioned below.

      • Login to your NetBanking account
      • Next, click on the "Request" menu on the left hand side of the web page
      • Now, click on the "Stop Payment of Cheque" option available
      • Select the Account Number - incase you have more than one account
      • Enter first/Start cheque number to the last/End cheque number, and state a reason for stopping the payment
      • Click on "Continue"
      • Click on "Confirm" tab to confirm the stop payment request after verifying the request
    3. I need to change my point of contact as I am shifting. How do I do it and how long will it take?
    4. You can do this through your net banking account or at your local HDFC Bank branch. Once you have updated your point of contact, it will take 7 days.

    5. Will I have to close this account if I shift employers?
    6. No, you can continue with the same account provided you submit a letter from your new employer stating your name, designation in the company, account number and a statement (in the letter) proving that you are indeed an employee of the company. Once this is submitted, you will receive your monthly payroll in the same account.

    7. Is it possible to open this account even if I am not receiving a monthly payroll?
    8. No, that would not be possible. You have to be a salaried individual to be eligible to open this account.
