Eligibility Criteria  

If an individual fulfils the given below criteria, then they are eligible to open a zero balance account:  

  1. Must be a citizen of Indian 
  1. Must be 18 years old  
  1. Must have valid documents of identity and address proof 
  1. Minors can also open an account on behalf of parents 

Documents Required  

To open a zero balance account, only two documents are required along with passport-sized photographs. These are as follows:  

  1. Identity Proof: Aadhaar card, PAN, Passport, Driving License or Voter ID 
  1. Address Proof: Aadhaar card, PAN Card, electricity bill, water bill, rent agreement or bank statement. 

How to Open a Zero Balance Savings Account 

You can open a zero balance savings account with the Bank of Baroda via two methods i.e. offline and online. You can follow the steps given below in order to open an account from any mode. 

1. Offline Method  

  1. Go to the nearest branch of the Bank of Baroda. 
  1. Request an account opening form from the bank representative. 
  1. Read the instructions carefully and fill out the form accurately. 
  1. Attach the required documents and submit the form to the bank representative. 
  1. Once your details are verified, the bank will notify you via SMS or email with your account details. 

2. Online Method (From Home) 

  1. Visit the official website of the Bank of Baroda 
  1. Go to the ‘Zero Balance Accounts’ Section  
  1. Fill in the digital application accurately. 
  1. Upload scanned copies or photos of the required documents (PAN and Aadhaar Card) 
  1. Proceed with online KYC verification on video call. 

How to Convert Savings Account to Zero Balance Account 

If an individual wants to convert their existing savings account to zero balance account, then they can follow the steps given below:  

  1. Go to your bank branch where you have your current or savings account
  1. Ask for the form from bank staff to convert your existing account to a zero balance account. 
  1. Fill out the form carefully. 
  1. Attach the documents, if needed. 
  1. Submit the form along with your conversion application and documents (if needed). 
  1. The bank will review your request. 
  1. Once verified, your account will be converted to a zero balance account.
