  • No need to visit RTO for registration certificate

The Government of Delhi has authorised self-registered vehicle dealers in Delhi to issue temporary registration certificates to those who who buy a new car or two-wheeler from their outlets but stay outside the national capital. It is very much likely that in the coming months, the process off issuing permanent registration certificate by dealers will discontinue and there will be no requirement for the vehicle owner to visit a regional transport office (RTO) for the same.

The state transport department confirmed that the temporary registration certificates will be issued by self-registration dealers, the validity of which will be effective for one month. Currently, people buying a new vehicle from Delhi will be required to visit an RTO to get a temporary registration certificate issued by the motor licensing officer (MLO). Now that this process will be discontinued, approximately 200 self-registration dealers across Delhi have been authorised to create temporary registration certificates on spot.
