FASTag is a sticker that uses Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology to enable electronic toll payments at the national highways. It is affixed on the vehicle’s windscreen and the scanner present at the toll plaza scans the tag as the vehicle passes. The toll amount gets automatically deducted from the prepaid linked wallet or bank account.
If you are using a FASTag which is linked to a prepaid wallet, you need to recharge it as and when required to make hassle-free toll payments.
One of the ways to recharge the prepaid wallet is through BHIM UPI.

The minimum FASTag recharge amount is Rs.100. The maximum FASTag recharge amount is Rs.2,00,000 for limited FASTag holders and Rs.1,00,000 for full KYC FASTag holders.
Recharge can be done by online mode such as credit card/debit card/RTGS/NEFT/UPI/net banking or through offline option such as cheque payment.
Most of the time balance gets updated instantly. However, a slight delay in updating the payment status is possible. In such cases, it is advisable to the tag issuing bank with the registered mobile number, payment reference ID and vehicle registration number.
