You can find out the balance in your FASTag account instantly through different modes: online, mobile application, SMS, and customer care helpline. As of now, 13 banks are linked to the NHAI FASTag, the offical website.

Here’s how you can find out the details of your FASTag balance without any hassles:


  • Visit the website of your issuer agency/bank/mobile wallet.
  • Log into the FASTag portal on the website with your login credentials
  • You can now view your balance details

This mobile application is linked to the NHAI Prepaid Wallet.

  • Download the ‘' My FASTag App’' on your mobile device. This is compatible with both iOS and Android.
  • Enter your log in details.
  • You can now view your balance amount.


Once you have opened your FASTag account and linked your mobile number to it, updates will be sent via SMS each time a deduction has been made from your account. Details will be sent regarding your account balance, toll payments, recharge confirmations, and notifications on low balance.

  1. Where can I buy a FASTag?

    You can buy a FASTag from one of the Point of Sale (PoS) locations at Toll Plazas, any distribution agents, PoS outlets of the NETC Member Banks, and one of the Sales Offices. You can also get it online by applying at one of the respective issuer bank’s websites or the official website.

  2. How long is a FASTag valid?

    FASTag is valid for a period of 5 years from the date of purchase. On the basis of the usage, you will be required to recharge or top up the tag.

  3. What happens to a FASTag if I sell or transfer my car?

    It is recommended that you inform the issuing authority of the FASTag about the sale or transfer of your vehicle. This will allow the authority to close the account.

  4. What do I do if I don’t receive my FASTag refund?

    If you have not received your refund for your FASTag payment, you can get in touch with your issuing bank and raise the dispute. The bank will look into it and resolve the issue accordingly.

  5. Do I need to get a new FASTag if I relocate to another city?

    No, you will not be required to get a new FASTag if you relocate to a different city. FASTags are designed to work across the country in all the toll plazas which are enabled for it. However, if you are shifting cities or states, it is recommended that you get in touch with the respective issuing authority and inform them about the same.

  6. Is it possible to transfer the FASTag if I change my vehicle?

    Yes, it is possible to change the registered vehicle number. In case you have changed your vehicle, you can get in touch with the respective issuing authority and request them to tag the new vehicle to the existing FASTag.

  7. What are the charges of obtaining a FASTag?

    As per the government mandate published on the basis of the guidelines issued by the MorTH, a maximum of Rs.100 can be charged for issuing a FASTag. However, there are a number of banks which are offering the FASTags for free.

  8. My vehicle recently got stolen. What should I do about my FASTag account?

    In case your vehicle gets stolen, you can block the FASTag account linked to it by calling the respective FASTag issuing authority. On calling the customer care number of the issuing authority and providing the required details, the account will be blocked.

  • PhonePe offers FASTag recharges with 26 partnered banks

    PhonePe recently announced that they will now allow their users to recharge FASTag directly with 26 partnered banks. You can recharge your FASTag by opening the PhonePe app where you will have to click on ‘View More’ from the Recharge and Pay Bills section on the homepage. In the next step choose the bank with which you have a bank account, and enter your vehicle number. Confirm the details entered, and then enter the recharge amount, following which you will have to complete the payment.

    According to a senior government source, the Delhi government plans to open a regional transport office (RTO) at Jharoda Kalan, southwest Delhi, soon. This will be the 14th RTO in Delhi to open, and the tenth with an automated driving test track.

  • New licencing process to be rolled out at Pune RTO from 10 June

    The Regional Transport Office (RTO) of Pune will start accepting the applications for permanent driving licence and learners’ driving licence from the 10th of June 2021. The operations were shut down in the RTO since the month of April. The quotas for applications have also been reduced by 50% for learners’ licences. It is 350 now as opposed to the 700 which were accepted earlier. The permanent licence quota for two wheelers has also been reduced to 180 from 360. The same 50% cut has also been implemented for four wheeler and auto rickshaw licences.

  • Applications for driving licences can be done from home

    Due to the rising cases of COVID-19 in India, the government has allowed citizens to renew or apply for their driving licence online. Applicants can download the application form from the official website and complete the formalities online themselves.

    Renewal of driving licences, surrendering driving licence, etc. can be done through an online process. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has also set new guidelines where vehicle owner can renew their registration certificate 2 months in advance. The last date to register the vehicle has been pushed to 6 months from the date of purchase. The driving test has been shifted online as well where applicants need not visit the RTO for a test. They can do the test from home by following a tutorial.

  • Validity of DL and other transport related documents extended till June 2021

    the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) keeping in mind the rising number of Covid-19 related cases has decided to extend the validity of driving license and other vehicle related documents till June 2021.

    Documents whose validity has been extended include the fitness, permit, driving licence, registration, etc. Documents which could not be renewed due to the lockdown and has expired since 1 February 2020 or will be considered null and void by 31 March 2021 can now be renewed by June 2021.

  • Vehicle owners will now get a 5% cashback

    Vehicle owners will now get a 5% cashback on paying toll through FASTag at Mumbai-Pune Expressway and Bandra-Worli Sealink from 11 January 2021. The announcement was made by the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation by issuing a press release.
