The Regional Transport Offices (RTO) in Bangalore operates under the Motor Vehicles Act 1988. There are many RTOs in Bangalore making it easier to find an RTO closest to you. The primary function of the RTO is to ensure that all the rules and regulations under the Motor Vehicle Act are followed. Given below are some of the functions of the Bangalore RTO offices:
There are two types of vehicle registrations:
Temporary Vehicle Registration: A temporary vehicle registration of one month's validity is issued by the dealer as soon as it is purchased.
Permanent Vehicle Registration: This should be obtained as soon as the temporary registration expires.
The following are the licenses that applicants above the age of 18 can apply for:
Those who are 16 years and above can apply for licenses for motorcycles with an engine capacity of up to 50cc
Taxi and autorickshaw drivers do not need to apply for separate commercial driving licences. The law mandates that their Light Motor Vehicle (LMV) licence is sufficient for the purpose.
Visit your nearest RTO with documents like Form 20, invoice, ID proof, insurance, and pay the registration fee.
You need Form 20, Form 21, Form 22, insurance, PAN/Form 60, address proof, and the original invoice.
You can fill forms and pay fees online, but physical verification must be done at the RTO.
Temporary registration is valid for 1 month. Permanent registration must be done before it expires.
