Functions of RTO Offices in Bangalore
The primary function of the RTO is to ensure that all the rules and regulations under the Motor Vehicle Act are followed. Given below are some of the functions of the Bangalore RTO offices:

Types of Vehicle Registration
There are two types of vehicle registrations:
Temporary Vehicle Registration: A temporary vehicle registration of one month’s validity is issued by the dealer as soon as it is purchased.
Permanent Vehicle Registration: This should be obtained as soon as the temporary registration expires.
Types of Driving Licences issued in RTO Bangalore
The following are the licenses that applicants above the age of 18 can apply for:
- Two-wheelers without gear such as scooters
- Two-wheelers with gear such as certain scooters and bikes
- Light Motor Vehicles such as cars, three-wheelers, jeeps, vans, etc.
- Medium/Heavy Commercial vehicles such as trucks, buses, or trailers
Those who are 16 years and above can apply for licenses for motorcycles with an engine capacity of up to 50cc
Taxi and autorickshaw drivers do not need to apply for separate commercial driving licences. The law mandates that their Light Motor Vehicle (LMV) licence is sufficient for the purpose.
