News About Driving Licence in Telangana

  • Telangana soon to have RTC schools

The outbreak of coronavirus has forced all sectors to go in for several changes including the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC). The TSRTC which faced heavy losses in terms of revenue generation due to lockdown and continued restrictions on inter-state services even after the lifting of the lockdown, has now decided to venture into setting up a driving school to bump up its revenue.

The TSRTC feels that it was best suited to run the driving institute as it has a brand value of its own and its drivers comply with the rules and regulations and the safety measures needed to be followed while driving buses. Hence the TSRTC is now planning to open driving schools to impart training for light motor vehicles to heavy vehicles across the state.

RTC Officials said that the corporation claims that they are fully equipped with required infrastructure to provide training for aspiring drivers and have manpower at big depots experienced enough to impart the necessary training in the district headquarters.

In Hyderabad, a driving school is already being operated by the RTC and training the RTC trainee drivers. This existing infrastructure can be used for training drivers for LMVs as well. The TSRTC plans to partner with the Transport department to issue driving licences like any other driving school in Telangana.

The corporation is also looking to propose to lease the lands at the RTC bus stations to commercial establishments to construct malls. It hopes that by giving land on lease, it will be able to raise Rs.50 crore per year.
