    Every individual in India has to pay a tax known as road tax at the time of purchase of a vehicle. When you purchase a car or any vehicle, you don’t just pay the ex showroom price but you also pay additional in the form of registration and road tax. Road tax in India is imposed by both the central and state government and hence the riad tax charged in each state is different.

    How is the Tax calculated in Uttar Pradesh?

    Road tax is calculated based on several factors such as type of vehicle(two wheeler, four wheeler) and purpose of use (personal, transportation of goods). It also depends on the make, model, seating capacity, engine capacity, etc of the vehicle. As per section 3 of Uttar Pradesh motor vehicle taxation Act 1962 every vehicle owner has to pay road tax at the time of registration of his vehicle and thereafter as per rule formed there under.

    How to pay Road Tax in Uttar Pradesh?

    For Private vehicles, the vehicle owner can deposit the road tax at the time of registration at Uttar Pradesh Zonal Registration office. It is a one time payment.
