Road tax in Andhra Pradesh is a one-time payment. The amount to be paid as tax is set based on factors such as vehicle age, fuel type, engine capacity, and purpose of use. Two-wheelers and 4 wheelers have different tax rates.
The road network in India has enabled the country to stay connected and grow, helping both people and goods travel the length and breadth of our country. With the country divided into multiple states, it is common for travellers to cross over into a different territory and since road tax is a state subject, it becomes important to know the working of road tax in a particular place. The Motor Vehicle Act of 1988 has provisions for road tax in Andhra Pradesh (Capital City: Amravati), framing guidelines for relevant authorities to follow. With close to 80 lakh vehicles on the streets of Andhra Pradesh, road tax is a major source of income for the government.
