Road Tax in Goa falls under the purview of the Directorate of Transport. Taxes are determined based on various criteria including vehicle cost, age, engine power and size.

Goa collects road taxes on all new and old vehicles plying on its roads. The taxes are calculated on a per vehicle basis and are applicable on all sorts of vehicles such as two wheelers, three wheelers, four wheelers etc. operated as both transport and non-transport vehicles.

How is Road Tax in Goa Calculated?

Road tax in Goa is calculated on a wide range of criteria applicable to equally wide range of class of vehicles. The taxes are levied on the basis of:

  1. Weight,
  2. Size of the Vehicle
  3. Age of the Vehicle,
  4. Engine Power,
  5. Price,
  6. Place of Assembly etc.
  7. The taxes are collected on a one-time basis and applicable for the life of the vehicle.

Tax on Two-wheelers

Road tax in Goa on 2 wheelers is levied on the basis of cost of the vehicle purchased, regardless of the engine capacity, which is popularly known as cc. The rates are as follows:

Tax on Four-wheelers

Road taxes are levied on four wheelers in Goa on the basis of the cost of purchase of the vehicles. The rates are as follows:

How To Pay Road Tax Online in Goa

There are two ways by following which you can pay road tax in Goa. You either pay online or you can visit any RTO.

Given below are the steps to pay road tax online in Goa:

  1. Visit https://goatransport.gov.in/Default.
  2. Go to ‘Online Services’ and click on the ‘Tax Payment’ from the drop down menu.
  1. Enter your login ID and password to enter into the portal.
  2. Select service as ‘Road Tax’, Passenger Tax’, or ‘Dealer Deposit’.
  3. Next, click on ‘Other Details’ and enter the RTO code and registration number.
  4. Choose ‘Validate’ and you can view your name and address.
  5. Tap on ‘Initiate Payment’ to pay your road tax.

How to Pay Goa Road Tax Offline?

You can pay the relevant tax amount by approaching any of the district RTO offices operating around the state. You will need to submit forms with detailed information about yourself and the vehicle in question. You may also be required to submit documents to verify vehicle ownership.

Alternatively, you can pay Goa road tax online through the official Directorate of Transport, Goa website. The site requires minimal formalities and allows you to do your tax payments from the comfort of your home.
